an overview from our president & CEO
I've had the privilege to have worked in the staffing industry since the mid 90’s, placing hundreds of people in various roles ranging from clerical and light industrial, to high-end Senior Software Engineers & Enterprise Architects to C-Level executives in Fortune 100 organizations.
Achieving success through helping others
One particular placement stands out over all the years I’ve been in the industry and it helped me realize what a powerful impact staffing could be on the lives of the people I have worked with. It took place in 1995 and it was for an ongoing job order to staff dishwashers at a very large hotel in downtown Atlanta. As you might imagine, it was a position that experienced a fair amount of turnover.
An individual named Reggie walked into our office. He had been drinking, was in need of a shower and was down on his luck. I asked Reggie to come have a seat at my desk and proceeded to ask him if he could possibly expect us to represent him, coming in the way that he did. We agreed that if he came back in one week, showered, shaved and sober; I would put him to work. Reggie left and I wasn’t quite sure if I would ever see him again, but sure enough, one week later, he walked into our office showered, shaved and sober. I put him to work washing dishes at the hotel starting the very next morning.
Reggie became my most reliable employee at this particular hotel. He was a hard worker, never missed a shift and in two months he was promoted to supervisor. After three months, Reggie came into my office to show me a lease to his new apartment. Up until that point, Reggie had been homeless and living in a shelter.
Over my ten years in staffing, I have had so many fantastic experiences, from helping someone get back on their feet to helping people find their dream job and what Reggie taught me in 1995 still holds true today. Staffing gives us the opportunity to improve peoples’ lives while helping employers improve the quality and flexibility of their work force.
I founded ARENA on the principle that if we focus on helping our customers, both the job seeker and the employer, we will succeed as well.
Thank you for the opportunity!
Best Regards,
